Explore Fernie

The owner Susan Mould, a Fernie local, whose terrain knowledge is second-to-none, enjoys hosting guests on the mountain, finding the best powder and hidden terrain.

MTB & hiking guides are available locally during the summer season.

Discover the mountain

Equipped with over 20 years of experience and knowledge of the terrain at Fernie Alpine Resort, Susan is happy to show upper intermediate & advanced levels around some of what the resort offers.

This knowledge is a key, much of the resort may go undiscovered by the majority of visitors due to the layout of the bowls & ridges. Understanding unique slope aspects, snow loading, secret glades really heightens the quality of the overall experience. Being invited along to ski with a local to these spots is a huge perk.

The resort offers a complimentary hosting service on blue and green runs, which is great for those who want a tour around the mountain with similar level skiers/boarders.

The Fernie area offers a huge amount of backcountry touring and some easy access directly from the ski resort. You are required to have functioning touring equipment (there is limited avi gear rental options). If a day touring in the pristine backcountry appeals to you then a local ACMG guide costs around $700 for up to 6 guests per day and must be booked in advance. The Canadian Avalanche Association offers awareness courses which we can provide the specific dates for if you are interested.

Dearest Sue, You are the dominatrix of the slopes. I thought I came for downhill skiing, why do I always seem to be climbing upwards for powder after you! Yet another fabulous holiday, 9th one with you. Skiing was great, however you entice me to ski runs which are unsuitable for my advancing age! Many thanks.
